Getting to Know Tyler Wisler
Oct 19, 2016, 13:06 PM
With over 16 years in the industry, Tyler Wisler has established himself as one of New York’s most influential and dynamic designers with an international clientele. He’s been featured on hit shows like HGTV’s Design Star, ABC’s Good Morning America, and NBC’s George To The Rescue. With an ear to the ground and discerning eye, Tyler has been sought out by not only the mega-online retailer OpenSky to be one of their taste-makers, but he is also an “eBay Influencer”, and a content creator for Skype. Most notably though, he is a Pinterest “Pinfluencer” in both the Home Decor and Men’s Fashion categories touted by both Mashable and The Huffington Post as “one to follow”.
We were able to ask Tyler a few questions about his design style, current must-haves and more in advance of the Johnson County Home + Remodeling Show!
Q: What famous figure(s) inspires your career?
Tyler: "Tom Ford amazes me. Starts off as an architect, then turns into the most iconic fashion designer, who also directs movies, and oh, by the way still remains super handsome throughout it all?!... I mean if he can do it all, so can I!"
Q: Describe your design style in five words or less.
Tyler: "Sexy, Edgy, Moody, Rock Star."
Q: What design/gardening trend or item are you coveting this season?
Tyler: "It’s been around for a while now, but I’m still obsessing over touches of copper everywhere! Oh, that, and matte black!"
Q: What is your favorite design or garden-related phone app?
Tyler: "I really like playing around with the Sherwin-Williams ColorSnap app. It makes finding the right colors for a project so much easier."
Q: What is your design or gardening pet peeve?
Tyler: "When people go into a store and just buy a vignette as shown. Come on! Have some fun and mix it up!"
See Tyler at the Johnson County Home + Remodeling Show at the Overland Park Convention Center. He'll be sharing design tips and advice on our Fresh Ideas Home Stage on Friday and Saturday. And make sure to check out his line of eco-luxury bedding for Butterfly Dreams linens.
